Anyone going into the police academy should consider the requirements carefully before taking the steps necessary to become a police officer or getting into a law enforcement career. There are many requirements.</span><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="color:red;">Age Requirement:<br /><br />For officer positions, you must have reached your 21st birthday prior to, or by the date of your police appointment.<br /><br /><em>Physical Condition: </em><br /><br />Applicants usually submit to a physical examination by a licensed physician. The physician must certify that they are physically sound, and free from any defects, or illnesses which may adversely affect the performance of a peace officer. Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20, and there must be no hearing defects. Blood type must be submitted prior to date of appointment.<br /><br />Background Investigation:<br /><br />A thorough background investigation will be conducted on all applicants.
